The HUB Builders

Building HUBwith the people who will use it.

Before the pilot opens, we want to test HUB for real: with 30 to 50 volunteers from the same local area, for 6 to 8 weeks. Local people who buy, sell, offer a service or look for something close to home.In preparationNo group has started yet and no date is set. You can already volunteer.

What it is

A small group, a real local area, a few weeks.

Builders use HUB in their daily lives, tell us what works and what gets in the way, and help us fix it before opening more widely.

  • 30 to 50 volunteers

Enough for people to really find each other, few enough to listen to everyone.

  • 1 area to live in

A town and its neighbours: the same roads, the same markets, the same neighbours.

  • 6 to 8 weeks

Before the pilot opens, to fix what needs fixing.

Who can take part

Those who offer, and those who search.

The group mixes profiles on purpose: the person who searches matters as much as the person who offers.

  • Shopkeepers

    A shop, a restaurant, a market stall.

  • Service providers

Hair, repairs, cleaning, lessons, design, consulting.

  • Producers

Growers, fishers, artisans, what is made here.

  • Residents

Looking for a product, a service or a helping hand close to home.

  • Young people

From 15. Selling or offering a paid service remains for people aged 18 and over.

  • Older people

Their view matters: if it is simple for them, it is simple for everyone.

  • People less at ease with digital tools

Supported by mediators, so that nobody is left behind.

What we do

Five real situations, tested for real.

No demo: real needs, real answers, between people from the same area.

  1. A grower’s basket of the day

He posts his morning basket. Neighbours see it, reserve it and come to pick it up.

  2. An appointment with a hairdresser

A client finds her close to home, sees when she works and asks for an appointment.

  3. A repair

A machine breaks down. The resident says what they need, a local repairer answers.

  4. A first client for a young person

A young person who edits videos or gives lessons finds a first client, without thousands of followers.

  5. A neighbourhood event

An association announces a street party. Residents sign up, shopkeepers lend a hand.

These are situations to test, not results.

What we measure

Facts, not likes.

  • How many needs find an answer.
  • How quickly.
  • How many orders are fulfilled.
  • Who comes back.

These are totals for the whole group: nobody is tracked. What changes thanks to these measures is published on “What changed thanks to you”.

The charter

You suggest. You are consulted. We decide and we tell you why.

  1. You suggest.

An idea, a problem, an improvement. Every suggestion is read.

  2. You are consulted.

Before choices that affect you, we ask for your view.

  3. We decide and we tell you why.

HUB KAO keeps the decision. We tell you what is kept, what is not, and why.

What taking part does not mean

  • Taking part does not make you a co-owner of HUB KAO, nor a co-decision-maker.
  • Nothing is paid, and nothing is promised in return: no money, no shares, no perks.
  • You can stop whenever you like, without having to explain.
